Decals for Rain Barrel Approved

Our contact at the ABG has approved our scarecrow's name (Professor Prunus) and said that we can include the decals of companies associated with our industry, as long as they are tasteful.

For Judy-Lynn: Whoever's name is on the entry form is the name that will appear on the guest list for the visitors day.

How's the frame coming along, Andy???

See you tomorrow at 6:30!

List of items for creating Scarecrow

Professor Prunus will need many items to come to life. Some present
already volunteered their hand-me-downs, but if you think you have
something really cool - BRING IT TO THE NEXT MEETING!!!  Remember we
cannot use real dirt, live plant material or anything that will not
withstand the outdoor elements for several weeks.

We need everyone to bring  plastic grocery bags. This will be our
stuffing. It takes a lot!

Accompanying our scarecrow will be a wheelbarrow (Cassie?) with Hort
books, fake dirt (got any good ideas for material?) Fake plant.

Prof Prunus will be standing/supported by a makeshift rainbarrel with a
downspout in the top and a spigot w/ drip line at the bottom - looking
for an old trash barrel with secured lid to do the duty.
Head - Floral Foam   Lyn
Eyes - brass ends from a hose - Need Volunteer
Weed wiper line for hair (Nikki)
Covers of old Hort Books - Need Volunteer
Idea/solution for nose and lips - Need Volunteer
Visor - Lyn
Watering Can - Gay Lyn
Pants - Andy
Shirt - Nikki (PLANET blue button down)
Small garden tools, particularly spade, pruners, and hedge clippers -
Need Volunteers
Safety Glasses - Need Volunteer
Belt - Need Volunteer   AND does anyone have one of the bottle hangers
that goes on the belt?
ID Badge for NMT/CTC - Shane can you donate something? We'll take
PPrunus' photo and make one up before we ship him/her out to ABG.
Any ideas for stickers/labels on the "Rain Barrel" like 'Safety First',
PLANET, MALTA, GGIA, etc., or something more humorous?
Judy-Lynn - Crows!

If I have forgotten anything, please add it and pass it on.

Please Bring Plastic bags tonight!

Hey, everyone who is coming tonight, please remember to bring plastic bags and things from the list.

Thanks!

CTC Horticulture Department Creates a Scarecrow for the annual ABG Exhibition

Each year the Atlanta Botanical Garden offers the public a chance to put their mark on the garden. This year the North Metro campus Horticulture department is on the path to a winning Scarecrow -- at least we hope to get the nod for good garden placement.

Our group of creative PLANET members has embarked on turning a heap of used goods into a representation of our learning world - in the form of a scarecrow.

All who wish to be part, show up at 6:30 pm on the next 4 Tuesdays (starting in September) at the Hort Building to add your personal touches.

Two rules:
1) No live plant material
2) Has to be able to withstand the outdoor elements for up to 4 weeks

Watch for a list a materials we are attempting to scavenge!
